STANFORD UNIVERSITY: HISTORY OF BLACK GRAPHIC DESIGN Archive COLLECTION

Originally developed at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, this interpretation of the Emancipation Proclamation was hand-selected by design pioneer Cheryl D. Miller for the History of Black Graphic Design Archive Collection at Stanford University.

By juxtaposing the Statue of Liberty with the historical reality of the American South, the work serves as a study in navigating complex cultural narratives through high-contrast visual strategy. As the youngest artist currently featured in the archive, this project remains a cornerstone of my career, demonstrating a foundational ability to produce work of institutional quality that resonates at a national scale.

The Project

The poster was completed with a corresponding booklet, and was featured at the 2018 Duluth NAACP Moments In The Movement Exhibit.
